The Story Center Gallery at Mid-Continent Public Library (MCPL) is accepting submissions for a visual narrative exhibition. We are seeking original works of art with a story to tell. So, whether you photograph, paint, create digitally, or however you express visual narrative in the two-dimensional realm, we want to invite you to show your story. To be eligible to submit, artists must be cardholders of MCPL or other reciprocal library system.
Submissions through this form will be accepted all year long. Artists will be notified if their work is selected for exhibition.
Goals for exhibit installations are twice a year, in coordination with the library's program schedule for a loan period of three months for summer (June-August), fall (Sept-November), winter (December-February) or spring (March-May) . Exact dates for art loan contract can be negotiated based on artist's availability.
Submission Guidelines
- Artists must meet eligibility requirements.
- There are no subject restrictions, but exhibits must be narrative driven.
- All works must be ready to hang with compatible hardware as outlined in the Story Center Gallery Dimensions & Hardware Specifications (found on our website)

Woodneath Press, a publishing imprint of The Story Center at Mid-Continent Public Library (MCPL), is accepting submissions for full-length, single-authored manuscripts.
This project supports Woodneath Press’ model that focuses on bringing local voices to the residents of our service area and connecting the authors to the community through their books. We will be prioritizing promotion within the library system and dedicating library resources to encourage increased engagement and circulation of this book within the collection. Authors will be asked to participate in author events within the community branches upon publication.
Round 1: Submission through this form will be accepted through September 30th at 11:59pm CDT.
Round 2: If you are selected for the second round of submissions, a request for the entire manuscript will be sent by October 16th with a deadline of October 30th.
Submission Guidelines
- Authors must meet eligibility requirements.
- There are no subject restrictions, but manuscripts should be narrative driven.
- 60,000-100,000 words
- We are not accepting poetry, short story collections, or children’s books at this time.
- Woodneath Press does not accept works that have been previously published.
*We encourage graduates of the Storytelling Certificate Program to submit.

- Per this policy, presenters cannot have banners with links to their sites showing throughout the entire program. This includes any Facebook, Twitter, or personal sites. Presenters are welcome to bring these sites up at the end of the program. However, this must be done in a passive manner and no active push should be made to get audience members to visit them. Sites that take funds (such as Patreon or donation sites) cannot be mentioned or have their links shown at all.
- MCPL policy requires a background check for any accepted presenter.
- All virtual programs must be at least 25 minutes long and in the mp4 format
- If your program will be live on Facebook, be sure to accept the MCPL360 friend request to ensure the necessary administrative permissions.
- If you are sending a video, the file needs to be submitted at least four business days prior to the program date.

Square One Small Business Center's target market is early-stage small business owners. All programs and events are designed with that demographic in mind. Please keep this in mind when submitting your interest.
